Beer & Spirits provides a comprehensive and entertaining introductory beverage education for foodservice and retail employees. We lay the foundation on which you can build with your operation's specific policies and bar/cocktail offerings. The beverage education of an employee is an on-going process. We see Beer & Spirits as the mandatory, critical first step in that progression.
Students explore how beer is made, the different styles and characteristics of beer, bottle vs. draught beer and pairing beer with food.
Students learn about the distillation process and detailed information on different types of distilled spirits (vodka, gin, whiskey, liqueurs, etc.).
This lesson details the different ingredients used to make mixed drinks, the different types of garnishes and appropriate glassware.
This lesson uses video and high resolution photographs to demonstrate how to make popular drinks, including martinis, frozen drinks, rocks drinks, and shots/shooters. Also included is information on increasing sales, responsible service, and behaviors of a great bartender.
